Time Addict (Teaser Trailer) from Daniel Grindrod on Vimeo.
Teaser trailer for my short film “Time Addict” that I’m making for my creative dissertation.
Shot in a very dark attic with the Canon 5D mark ii, Max iso most of the time 1250, however for some shots I had to go over, hence more noise. I used magic bullet looks de-nosier 2 to help clean up some shots. Graded with magic bullet looks. Edited in premiere pro cs6.

Rear Window (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary: A wheelchair bound photographer spies on his neighbours from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder.
Rear window was the second film on my Hitchcock list and it did not disappoint. Fantastic story that kept me glued to the screen from start to finish. The story being told from pretty much the one room was one very well, much better than latter films such as Pay phone for instance. I thought James Stewart was much better in this than “The man who knew too much”.
Overall: 8/10
The man who knew to much 1956 (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary: A family vacationing in Morocco accidentally stumble on to an assassination plot and the conspirators are determined to prevent them from interfering.
Having never watched a Hitchcock film before, I thought it was about time I invested in the 14 disc box set of his. The man who knew to much was my first choice from the set because I thought it was one of his earlier films, I later realised this was a remake of his earlier version. The story was key for me with this film, I wasn’t expecting ground breaking effects or anything like that as I know it’s very dated now. Having been so used to the style of acting and fast pass of the films out nowadays , it did take be a little bit to adjust to the film I was watching. I don’t want to really judge the acting or editing because it is SO different form what I’m used to however the cinematography was very good and the pacing suited to story well.
Overall 7/10
Hesher (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary: A young boy has lost his mother and is losing touch with his father and the world around him. Then he meets Hesher who manages to make his life even more chaotic.
Hesher is a very underrated film. I don’t think it’s been released very long over here in the UK and I’m pretty sure it didn’t even get a cinema release , although I might be wrong. Well written with believable characters, Hesher is a very watchable film. Great perfomances from all the leads, the stand outs being Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the young Devin Brochu. The soundtrack fits in perfectly with the title character Hesher and adds a lot to the film.

The Incredible Hulk 2008 (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary:
Dr. Bruce Banner, thanks to a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, transforms into a giant green-skinned hulk whenever his pulse rate gets too high. Meanwhile, a soldier uses the same technology to become an evil version of the original.
Let me start by first saying this is a far superior adaptation than the 2003 Hulk, Having said that, it’s clear that this film was probably only made to start the franchise that has led us to the upcoming Avengers film. It is a good stand alone film, with a strong enough story to warrant a sequel of it’s own (hopefully). I thought Edward Norton made a great Bruce Banner, it’s a shame he isn’t in the Avengers film. In my opinion the Hulk in this film looks the best, even over the one in the avengers trailers.

Iron Man 2 (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary: Because of his superhero alter ego, Tony Stark must contend with deadly issues involving the government, his own friends and new enemies.
Iron man 2 is perfectly acceptable sequel to the 1st film, which in fairness would be hard to beat. The majority of the cast returned with the addition of Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell & Mickey Rourke, who all performed well. The visual and special effects appeared to be improved from the 1st film which was very welcome. The only real fault I have with this film is that the story didn’t seem as overly polished as it’s predecessor, having said that, I’m incredibly excited for the Avengers and Iron man 3.

Iron Man (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary: When wealthy industrialist Tony Stark is forced to build an armored suit after a life-threatening incident, he ultimately decides to use its technology to fight against evil.
I’m a huge fan of superhero films and this one is definitely up there. Great performances by all the cast members in particular Robert Downey Jr who makes a fantastic Tony Stark/ Iron man. There are not really any complaints I have about this film.

Cabin in the woods (Film Review)

IMDB Plot Summary: Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods.
I had to see this film on opening night! I was incredible excited from the trailer and I can say with confidence that this film will not let you down!. I don’t think I have ever seen a film like this and like a few other reviews say, this film is a definite game changer. Good performances from all the cast members but obvious standouts were Fran Kranz, Richard Jenkins & Bradley Whitford. This film is both terrifying and hilarious, I have never seen something take on both genres so well. Written by Joss Whedon who I’m a huge fan of and directed by a fairly unknown Drew Goddard, I believe this was his debut as a director, Bravo sir!. I don’t want to give anything at all away about the story really, and I would say if possible avoid watching any clips or trailers, it will make the film so much more enjoyable.
